Day 10 of my first trip to Morocco – Bye bye Sahara

After breakfast, we went to the village of Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou, which is one of the nine world cultural heritage sites in Morocco. The movie Gladiator was filmed here.

Today we have to pass two mountains before we arrive Marrakech. Most of the 4-hour drive is mountain roads, and there are many zigzags. A lot of coaches and cars are coming from Marrakech, bringing people home for their New Year

Lunch is settled at the halfway BBQ restaurant. Firstly we buy the meat, then they grill it for us.  What’s an experience to watch the old grandpa cut lamb with a big ax.

After passing through mountains and rivers, we finally arrived in Marrakech,  the second largest city in Morocco and the ancient capital for thousands years.

Marrakech is landlocked.  Today’s temperature is as high as 44 degrees. As soon as I get out of the car, there is a hot wave hitting on my face, which is comparable to the heat of the desert.
